How long does it take for the Earth to go around the Sun?

100 - 3 = 97

There are 97 leap years in a gap of 400 years, where the gap is from (x + 1) to (x + 400) where x is a multiple of 400.

400 - 97 = 303

There are 303 years in a gap of 400 years, where the gap is from (x + 1) to (x + 400) where x is a multiple of 400.

(303 x 365) + (97 x 366) = 110,595 + 35,502 = 146,097

There are 146,097 days in 400 years. Therefore, we divide 146,097 by 400 -

146,097 / 400 = 365.2425

- and solve the problem. There is, however, an additional problem in this question. The Earth's revolution is slowing down by approximately .002 seconds per day. Therefore, we can never have an accurate measurement for the term 'year' in general, but only for the calendar year, or what we go by, and this is subject to change.

Scientists are therefore utilizing what we call 'leap seconds', adding them at an interval ranging between 1 to 3 years, to maintain the accuracy of time between Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and the mean solar time (at the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, UT1). Greenwich Mean Time, in a casual context, is equal to both UTC and UT1. This accuracy, or lack thereof, may not exceed .9 seconds, which defines the use of leap seconds.

Here is a list of leap seconds that have been added.

I would also appreciate it if you would not blatantly copy this answer, instead giving me partial credit for it. I did spend approximately 30 minutes typing this out. ;_;

This is a maplestory private server filled with little 13 year olds.
I'm glad you're such a gigantic nerd but 365 days is a PERFECTLY acceptable answer.

I'm not asking for the 14+ year olds who apply to be scientists, I'm just asking them to answer the question simply.

The fact that you wasted 30minutes of your life writing this out is somewhat pathetic. But I hope it made your e-peen bigger, and I'm sure all your 13 year old internet friends will be enormously impressed by how smart you are. (=

365 days is not perfect. It is acceptable, but not perfect. I find my 30 minutes writing this well-spent, more so than I could have achieved by being online. Thank you for your concern.

Just curious Ray...srsly like
When did you become a bitch?
I know 13 is around when you hit puberty, but like...guys don't have their periods, so why you acting like such a bitch? =[

You were cool before, but now you just act like a raged teen, trying to prove how smart he is to the other 12 year olds of this server. The 12 year olds might find it impressive, but I personally just see it as a huge waste of time, you're not impressing me, that's for sure.

But honestly, really, what happened? I know for a fact I didn't change. I'm still the bitch you were friends with before, but myself(and a few other people I won't name) seem to think you've turned into an attempted 13 year old know it all...a mini-Tsu...

*note: this is a serious question, no being a bitch. I'm really curious of what happened to you*

I don't know. I certainly feel like I've changed. So, I'll have a generalized answer, named Change.

I find arguing - I think of it as debating - sort of an anger management, something I have found solace in, lately. I can, however, assure you that my conscious thought was not directed at being a know-it-all in this post. It was directed at giving a solution to a problem for mathematics, which I enjoy dearly.

And, just curious, was that person Andrea? I can think of no other person whom I know well who has not remained friends with me.

I won't say who it was, but I don't really talk to Andrea so no, it wasn't her.
I didn't even know you two weren't friends anymore. But I'm sure there are reasons behind that, such as how you've recently been acting.
I'm a bitch, and I do it in a way that makes everyone hate me, but I realize that and idc. You're being a bitch and yet you're still trying to make everyone like you, which is just stupid in my opinion.

But that's just me, you may do w.e you want.

I'm sorry, please explain how I'm making everyone like me. I seriously am not attempting to make any new friends on the game itself, but I've (perhaps) found a new friend on the forum.

Good effort, and it seems mathematically sound. However, a simple Google search yields 365.25 days, the same number simply rounded. We applaud the math, though. Math sucks.

You could say it's our personal preferrence. We apologize if it bothers or confuses you. To clarify, our favorite quote from the Christian Bible, despite being rather agnostic (Perhaps Quaran as well; Haven't looked) is the origin of Legion: Gospel of Mark 5:9. We all feel like many sometimes, don't we?

Well that was annoying to type on an iPod. Sorry for "preaching" a little.

Not at all. We would be disappointed to even have that site in our history. A moronic site where people think the same trash ad infinitum is funny. We'll pass.

Exactly why I said slightly more than 365 days, due to the fact that fact that the time increases for a complete orbit around the sun. However, I somewhat enjoy topics like this, gives us more opportunities to discuss and ACTUALLY be a community.

Mhm exactly! Also, the time does increase, it's the speed of its orbit that decreases.

Oh, I thought what you meant was that the Earth spins faster, when what you meant was the Earth takes longer to spin.

Just telling the truth here, About 80% of the community does not care of how long will it take for earth to orbit around the sun.
Just say 365, 364, 400. T.T

But it is an acceptable knowledge. As in YOU CAN HAS THIS KNOWLEGE!
